Porcelain Mushrooms

I came across these slippery customers yesterday.
This is the Poreclain Mushroom.

It's very hard to mistake for anything else as it has some unique features - most notably that its cap is translucent and you can see the white gills through it. It also has a generous coating of slime, which makes it glisten.

The mushroom is usually found on fallen Beech logs or stumps. And, despite the slimy look, it is an edible. However, it needs to be wiped clean of slime (NEVER wash mushrooms as they soak up the water and the flavour is spoiled) and must be cooked before eating. I'm told that it tastes very bland when raw but cooking brings out a nice mushroomy flavour.

If you can be bothered to de-slime them.
Personally, I prefer to look for meatier, tastier mushrooms.
