Books worth reading #15 - 'Doughnut Economics' by Kate Raworth

This book truly is groundbreaking.
Kate Rayworth is an economist with a mission. Some time ago she realised that all of the economic models used by politicians and big business are based on outdated systems created in the 1930s and are no longer fit for purpose. So she came up with an alternative that not only allows businesses to prosper but also protects the environment and the rights and dignity of human beings.

It would be impossible for me to explain how her 'doughnut' model works in a short blogpost but, thankfully, she explains it very eloquently in this TED talk.

It's one of the very few I've seen where the speaker gets a standing ovation.

This is a very important book and certainly one that has completely reshaped my thinking about how the world should be run.

It is entirely possible for capitalism to benefit all rather than just a handful of billionaires.

And it can benefit the planet too.

An extraordinary book by a very clever woman.
