A twelve knee trembler

I came back from a dog walk today to find two Red Admiral butterflies getting jiggy on my house number plate.

Then I spotted another single Red Admiral on my Study window.

These are the first butterflies I've seen this year.

Spring must be in the air. Though I am quite surprised to see Red Admirals so early in the year. The first butterflies I usually see every year are lovely lemon yellow Brimstones. Then come the Admirals and the Tortoiseshells and then the Peacocks and the various white and meadow butterflies. Things are slightly out of order this year.

But wonderful to see them, as always.
