Scotland - Day 3

The weather was splendid today so we packed up our rods and reels and headed out onto the river Lyon. A few trout were caught and at least one decent sized salmon was 'the one that got away' - it broke the line just as the net was under its mouth. But, like always, the catch is a bonus - the real treat is the scenery and the fact that there is absolutely no phone signal here in the glen. The only noise is birdsong, sheep chattering to each other and the river.
The weather took a turn for the worse in the afternoon so we took a drive out to Ben Lawers, the highest munro (a mountain over 3000ft) in Perthshire, and then a drive by Loch Tay.

While there we came across a studio run by John A Lacey 'the Horn Carver' who makes beautiful items from antler and cow horn. All of his stock is donated (or he finds it) or is the by-product of meat production in the case of the Highland cattle. And he makes some lovely products (his website is here).

We were lucky to also get a look at his workshop and storage areas.

And I had to treat myself to something so I bought a new antler dog whistle and a drinking horn.

Cheers!
