Scotland - Day 6

My penultimate day in Scotland started well in that several of our 9-strong party caught some brown trout of a size worth keeping and eating. There was also a hint of salmon - four of us who were fishing in a stony gorge surmounted by an iron bridge saw a big one jump out of the water. We didn't catch it but we did get some stunning photos. The sun was out and the walk, through mossy beech woods to get down to the river, was like a stroll through some mythical fairy glen.
But the best views were from the bridge.
I did bring along a set of clip-on lenses - a macro, fish-eye and wide angle - for my smartphone and had some fun exploring beech nut casings, moss and the rust on the bridge.
After that we moved on to a less dramatic but still beautiful part of the river called Peter's Pool. The sun was very warm at this time and the sheep were coming down to the river to drink and to bask in the shade of the trees. Swallows were performing extraordinary acrobatics, dipping the river to drink. And there are swallows everywhere here - even in the eaves of the local Post Office.
A warm day turned into a warm evening and what better way to end it than with a firepit, good whisky and a spot of bat watching.

Glorious.
