A road trip to Aberfeldy and Pitlochry today.
First stop was a metal artist's studio at Keltneyburn owned and run by Heather M Cumming. Some nice work on display and a beautiful location. Her website is
here.
Then we went on to Aberfeldy for a mooch around the shops and I picked up a couple of excellent antiquarian books including a first edition hardback of Christina Hole's
Haunted England. Then it was on to Pitlochry.
There are some serious whisky shops in the town and some of the prices were astronomical. You would have to
really love your Scotch to shop here.
Then we visited the Wasted Degrees micro-brewery and picked up a few cans of extremely good ale.
Our final stop was Grandtully, via the marina at Taymouth and Loch Tay, and the boutique of world-famous chocolatier Iain Burnett (
website here). I bought some lovely treats and a very silly owl hat ... but not before trying on a few others.
And I was particularly interested to see these curious little lodge houses built by the Marquis of Breadalbane for his Taymouth Castle estate.
Oh, and that owl hat I mentioned? Here you go ...
